Volunteer your time at DALLAS fURNITURE bANK
Dallas Furniture Bank offers several opportunities for you to donate your time making a difference in the lives of your neighbors who are rebuilding their lives. Activities at DFB are great for individuals, corporate groups, small groups, and congregations.
Volunteer Opportunities
Warehouse Assistance
Helping in the warehouse is a great group project! We always welcome groups or individuals who would like to:
- Build flat-packed new furniture
- Help clean and sanitize donated used furniture
- Help keep the warehouse clean and organized
Office Assistance
Helping in the office is a great way for individuals to get involved. We welcome those who would like to:
- Answer phones
- Place follow up calls to clients and fill out survey answers
- Do data entry on the computer
Volunteering Guidelines
Liability Waiver
- ALL volunteers must sign a Dallas Furniture Bank Volunteer Liability Waiver.
- For teens 13 to 17, a parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver on behalf of their teen.
- This is a requirement to volunteer at Dallas Furniture Bank.

Age Restrictions
- No one age 12 or under may volunteer at Dallas Furniture Bank.
- Teens age 13 to 17 may volunteer with a parent or legal guardian present at all times. (No drop offs!)
- No exceptions.
Attire
- It is recommended that warehouse volunteers wear closed-toed shoes.
- Warehouse volunteers should bring their own work gloves or other personal supplies.
- Dress for the weather! Our warehouse is not climate controlled. No A/C or heater out there!
Court-Mandated Community Service
Dallas Furniture Bank cannot accept court-mandated community service volunteers if the charges include violent offenses or crimes against children. No exceptions.
Dallas Furniture Bank reserves the right to refuse court-mandated community service at our discretion.
Bedding Drives
If you or your group are looking for an opportunity to make a difference but are unable to volunteer in person, consider doing a bedding drive and collecting items needed by Dallas Furniture Bank. Drives are great ways to get kids involved, too!
Dallas Furniture Bank provides each client with brand-new beds and bedding, never used. This is for the dignity of our clients and for health and safety reasons. However, purchasing bedding can become a large cost for DFB. Having new bedding donated is so very helpful and frees up limited resources for other expenses.
Dallas Furniture Bank needs:
- NEW in package bed pillows (never used)
- NEW in package bed sheet sets in twin and/or full (never used, any pattern or color)
- NEW in package bed size blankets in twin and/or full (never used, any pattern or color)
